Ferrari ff
We’re always impressed when a manufacturer can keep a secret. And Ferrari’s managed to keep a big one—the FF, a car we’ve seen disguised in spy photos for the past year and assumed was a new version of the 2+2 612 Scaglietti. Thankfully, FF does not stand for “front-engine, front-wheel drive.” Rather, it stands for “four seats, four-wheel drive.”
The new FF is powered by a 6.3-liter direct injected V-12 that sends about 650 bhp (at 8000 rpm) to all four wheels via Ferrari’s 4RM all-wheel-drive technology. More intriguing, this is the first production Ferrari with a Pininfarina-designed 3-door body style. Although the ugly black cladding of the prototype hid a station wagon/shooting brake design, the FF is more of a conventional hatch with 15.9 cu ft of storage space. With rear seats folded flat, that expands to 28.3 cu ft. Is the new FF the most practical Ferrari ever? Maybe.
Back in 1988, an aluminum-intensive prototype Ferrari, the 408, featured all-wheel drive; it was actually the Road & Track cover car from our December 1988 issue. It’s uncanny how similar it was in style to the Acura NSX, the aluminum supercar that came out a year later. For whatever reason, the only bit of technology that seemed to carry forward from the 408 prototype was its aluminum structure—that was until now at least.
In typical Ferrari fashion, the FF will include technology gleaned from its other models. It will feature the latest carbon ceramic brakes, magnetorheological dampers, a dual-clutch transmission and the HELE (high emotion-low emission) start-stop technology borrowed from the California. There’s no talk of a hybrid FF, but we expect this Ferrari technology—first unveiled at Geneva last year—to appear soon. HELE has elements of it—its smart electronics focus on fuel conservation by economically managing electric motors and pumps that drive various systems such as the air conditioning, steering assist, fans and pumps. It’s similar to what’s employed with today’s microhybrids. Ferrari claims a 23 percent reduction in emissions during urban driving, which sounds a bit optimistic.

couple of months ago we broke the story on the official patent drawings of the next Dodge Durango SUV (see here), or whatever else Chrysler LLC bosses decide to name it. Andrew Currie from the 'Cheersandgears' forums took a couple of these sketches and rendered them to offer us a more realistic view of Dodge's full-size SUV.
The Durango's successor is believed to ride on the same or lengthened version of the 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee platform, which was developed alongside the next generation Mercedes-Benz ML SUV.
Powertrain options will most likely include Chrysler LLC's new 3.6-liter V6 Pentastar with 290-horsepower and a 5.7-liter V8 HEMI with 360 ponies, while an all-wheel-drive option is certain.

Arriving in dealerships in August 2010 Cadillac CTS Coupe is a new luxury sports coupe designed in the middle of the line-up for the review of the brand.Don Butler, Vice President – Cadillac Marketing said “CTS Coupe is the new focal point of Cadillac, expressing both our design and technical capabilities,” and “It is intended to appeal to a new generation of car enthusiasts.”
The CTS Coupe emerged as a proposal inside Cadillac’s dedicated design studio, where designers develop and evolve the brand’s Art and Science design philosophy. the new generation Camaro from General Motors has done a very good impression, we have recently seen the new 2010 Camaro Coupe giving life to the Autobot Bumblebee in the film Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen, part of GM’s advertising strategy. However, their economic situation has led her to take two additional versions, the Camaro Convertible and Z28 high-performance variant.In the case of the Camaro Convertible, a few weeks ago I told you it was confirmed for release in 2011, and regarding the Camaro Z8, the group of fans Camaro5 have information that the project remains on the table Z28 GM and could be also released in 2011.

When the German Rudof Christian Diesel first unveiled his new prototype in 1892, he thought he had invented a cheap and reliable power engine for the masses. Even now if you ask a diesel driver to describe their engines performance the word economical will soon crop up, however the German car manufacturer Audi is now looking to challenge that perception of the diesel engine with the worlds first diesel super car, the Audi R8 V12 Tdi.
It is safe to say that the words performance and diesel are not often used together, diesel engines are renowned for their ability to produce more miles per gallon than their petrol counterparts, whilst also producing considerably more torque from much lower down the rev range. Unfortunately diesel does have its drawbacks, including leaving the driver with hands smelling of diesel after filling up at, and belching out huge clouds of black smoke when accelerating to any motorist that may be following behind.
However in 2006 Audi set out to change the public's perception of the diesel engine when it took its R10 diesel powered prototype to race in the famous Le Mans 24 hour race. The 24 hour Le Mans was a happy hunting ground for Audi who had already won the race five times previously with its petrol powered R8, and beat off stiff competition from Bentley and BMW in the process.
On its first race at Le Mans the diesel R10 was a winner, and so the belief of what a diesel engine was capable of began to shift. Audi has swiftly followed this up with further successes at Le Mans and in the American Le Mans series, and now it has launched its first diesel powered super car in the shape of the Audi R8 V12 Tdi.
The diesel Audi R8 looks almost identical to the petrol powered model especially with its LED car bulbs, however very eagle eyed spotters will notice that the carbon fibre side blades are slightly larger, which allows them to scoop larger volumes of air into the twin intercoolers. With all that torque available from right at the bottom of the rev range the Audi R8 diesel is no slouch hitting sixty in just over four seconds and accelerating up to 180 mph. Unfortunately like all diesels the R8's power band is very narrow and maximum revs occur at just 4500 rpm, however you can console yourself with the fact that the diesel powered R8 produces considerably less carbon dioxide than its petrol equivalent.
The making of the diesel powered Audi R8 has really pushed the performance boundaries of the diesel engine, however until Ferrari include a diesel powered car in their model range, I think its safe to say that the petrol engine still has plenty of time left.

Audi has swiftly followed this up with further successes at Le Mans and in the American Le Mans series, and now it has launched its first diesel powered super car in the shape of the Audi R8 V12 Tdi.

[Detroit Auto Show 2011] 2012 Honda Civic Coupe and Sedan Concepts seem to be real, as Honda has just introduced its 9th-generation Civic Coupe and Sedan at the show. The new 2012 Civic concepts brings subtle improvements to exterior and interior from the current-generation Civic.
It is probably that the production of both the Coupe and Sedan models would be highly similar with a difference in the two- and four-door layouts.
For the four-door layout, buyers will be getting the 2011 Civic’s exterior design. Despite the sedan’s front-fascia uses a wee bit more menace compared to the current design, the carried-over grille as well as headlights are very similar.
At this moment, both 2012 Honda Civic Coupe and Sedan Concepts are only display shells; interior or engine attached have not been announced just yet. However, Honda said that the upcoming 2012 Civic range will still include a sporty “Si” performance version, with the addition of a natural-gas Civic. Aside from that, the Civic Hybrid will be featuring a lithium-ion batteries pack that will further have longer travel distance on a single charge.

The all-new HF model HONDA CIVIC is the most fuel efficient of the non-hybridized Civics that will be available in the United States in 2012. Honda expects the HF, with its 1.8-liter i-VTEC engine, to earn EPA-estimated fuel economy of 41 miles per gallon on the highway. The HF will share its aerodynamics package with the returning Civic Hybrid, which manages a combined rating of 45 mpg due to its lithium-ion battery. This is the first time Honda has used a lithium-ion battery.
The car will also boast a 1.5-liter i-VTEC engine and CVT transmission. It gets a larger 110-hp 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine linked to a continuously variable transmission.
Pricing has yet to be announced on the 2012 Civic.

Honda Canada invited some auto writers to a media roundtable the other night, looking for feedback on what the consumer is thinking.
While we emphasized the demand for technology that works as simply as the iPhone and iPad (and connects to them too) as well as more clean diesel engines, the more interesting news of the night was the confirmation the 2012 Honda Civic will be unveiled this fall at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit.
Calling the new car "beautiful" and an evolution rather than revolution like the current model, Jerry Chenkin, Executive Vice President of Honda Canada, said he had driven the new Civic and that it would "set a new standard" for interior excellence. He said the new Civic will have "better numbers" all around, but wouldn't elaborate, saying only that the same body styles currently offered would continue.
The new Civic is a year late after Honda's new president Takanobu Ito took one look at what was to be the 2011 Civic and went "yeck." Chenkin said the car would likely be in showrooms by May 2011 as a 2012 model year car. As much as we tried for more info on the Civic, it wasn't coming, even after we plied Mr. Chenkin with red wine. He did admit under torturous questioning, however, that the 2010 Honda Insight hybrid was an "unmitigated disaster" because it was lacking the quality and value usually found in a Honda. That's frank talk from a car-company executive, but he is absolutely right. When was the last time you saw an Insight?
